Lemond Beunos Aires sizing help

I found a good deal on a 2004 Lemond Buenos Aires, but I have a concern with the sizing. I do not have any experience with the Lemond line (hence me starting this thread), but I have heard that they run larger than many other manufacturers. For instance, I ride a 54 Trek (alum/carbon), and a 53 Jamis (853 steel) and both fit me well. The Beunos Aires that I have run across is a 52. The guy stated that the actual top tube length is 54, with the "virtual" top tube length at 55. I believe he said the stand-over height was something like 75.

Again, I have no experience with the Lemond line - I'm I right about them running a bit larger? If so, does it sound like the 52 would fit me?

My local LBS does not carry the Lemond brand (in Tokyo), so I really have no means of comparison.

Any help you could provide would be GREATLY appreciated.

I have a 2004 Buenos Aires. I'm about 5' 10.5" tall with a 31.5-32 inseam. I have a 54cm bike and it is measured center to center. That is from the center of the BB to the center of the top tube. Other bikes I have seen measured are from the center of the BB to the top of the seat tube. I guess if the bike is to small you could always adjust the seat stem and seat..

After further research, it turns out that Lemond's go 51, 53, 55, etc. He says that he remembers it being a 53, but the measurements he gave were accurate. Does this sound like a 53 to anyone?

Either way, it appears to be a great deal - and at 5'7 and 3/4", I don't think I can go too wrong either way.

keep in mind that Lemonds tend to have a more slack seat tube angle, so when you place the saddle in the position in relation to the BB that your use to the top tube will start further behind the saddle. a virtual top tube of 55 on a frame with a slack seat tube angle might not be that different than what your use to. If the Bueno aires is a steel frame it will have the same geometry of the other lemond steel frames.
