Interested in swapping out an older (non dimpled) zipp 303 rim with something else. I hit a bump in the road and the rim failed so I thought I'd see if there is something else available to use the existing spokes and hub. Does anyone have the ERD for a 303...or perhaps a suggestion on alternate rims?

Thanks...jeff

Non-dimpled should be 569mm. Nothing close enough to that ERD to substitute.

Excellent...thank you sir! Looks like the (older) 303's have a ERD of 569 mm.

I would imagine the chances are slim to none that there is a rim out there that has a similar ERD...but I thought I'd look for the fun of it, one never knows. Any suggestions on where to rim shop please post up!!

Kinda what I figured. I did find an excel spread sheet with some rim data. The closest is;

American classic carbon fiber v rim (erd 567)
LEW composite (erd 572)

Interestingly on this spreadsheet there are two zipp rims listed...the 280 and 340. The rim weight on my 38 is listed as 290 (which typically is the number for the zipp rim). Bottom line is I'll need to measure to be sure.

TedH...thanks for the tip. Can you elaborate?? Any particular reason???
Guidance in wheel-building books and safety first approach. The wheel is a few years old and just failed; so you really have no way of knowing if the ones that appear strucutrally sound in fact are sound. $32 for a new set of DT butted spokes for the wheel and $12 for nipples is a small insurance package. Safety first.

Thanks Ted....safety first is always good advice.

The wheels have only a handful of rides on them hence the thought at reusing the spokes/hubs (sapim CX ray). After reading a few posts here it might be fun to spec out a wheel and building it up myself. Looks to be a fun project...

Cheers,
Jeff
