I have stopped before by any random house to ask for plain water. I carry 2 24oz bottles but a couple of times on my way home after a long hot ride I ran out of water and I just looked for a house where there was somebody working in their garage or the lawn and asked for water and refill of my bottles; I was close to home but I was so thirsty...
