I read alot of glowing reviews of the redline 925....no bikeshop in the twin cities had any in stock.

i ordered one, picked it up today....first pedal the freewheel slipped, same on the second, then heard a noise in the back wheel. made a uturn to the bikeshop.

They pulled the freewheel and laughed, they showed it to me, the inside of the freewheel moved vertically 1/16th of an inch....no brand name just "India".

What kind of junk is redline building their bikes with!!!!??!??? JUNK!

Luckily the good guys at Edina Bike shop in Edina Minnesota helped me out. They pulled a Shimano freewheel off of one of their Italian bikes and gave it to me.

I was so excited about getting my Redline....now I feel like they think I'm a sucker.

What would make them put crap like this on their product?????

Now I can't help but think, what else is junk on this bike, and why oh why did I buy a Redline.

I suggest Redline pull theirs heads out of their butts.

Different Model?

The models have changed and maybe along with it, the specs. I bought the 925 in 2007, with the mustache handlebars and the black paint. There have been 2 newer versions since then. I could not be more happy with it. My crank is name brand (Sugino I think) and the freewheel appears to be the same.

I do like the set up of the new bike much more. In fact, I bought TT handlebars and end mount brake levers and set my 925 up just like the newer models.

Why did your LBS let you ride out of there without checking everything out? EVERY bike manufacturer will make assembly mistakes or things can happen during shipping. I would be more upset with my shop than Redline. I have a Redline that was known to come with a bad headset, but my shop checked it out and repaired BEFORE I rode out of there. Just my opinion on the matter.

Well, they apparently wouldnt have known unless they actually rode it and as soon as I uturned they fixed the problem...still cant leave redline of the hook for sending poop with their product.

Thank you for your thoughts

Maybe it was just a fluke. I bought my wife a Redline and she's really digging it. It's all SRAM (btw, 1st Sram purchase and I must say I'm impressed), and had a good setup by a trusted LBS. I'd be a little suspect at a LBS who would, "laugh" at a problem like that. My LBS rode my wife's bike (only in the parking lot) before he delivered it to her. Something like that would have been caught, I would think. Anyway, hopefully this is the only problem and you get many years of great service from this. Good luck
