I'm hoping someone here can point me in the right direction.
My SRAM Red front shifter and derailleur are very, very stiff - to the point of not moving at all unless I apply pressure to the front derailleur by hand and then eat up the cable slack with the shift lever.
I don't know what is wrong. It feels as if the return spring in the front derailleur is extremely strong, almost too strong. I don't know what could have happened that would cause this to occur. Could it be in the shifter itself?
If I let off the pressure on the front derailleur by hand, I can move the doubletap lever to take in the excess cable slack. So I don't think the cable is stuck in the housing anywhere. It moves freely when there is slack. As soon as I remove my hand from the derailleur arm, however, it is stuck again.
Any ideas?
