I got a 103 mm Sugino bottom bracket from Ben's Cycle back in August. It's about shot after only 700 miles. Now this was 700 dry, Tucson Arizona miles. It feels rough and seems as if it's as dry as a bone, like all the grease evaporated. There has to be a ton of you out there with experience with this unit. Was mine a lemon?
I ordered an Tange-made IRD unit from Harris. Well see if it can get past 700 miles.

Man I just ordered the Sugino BB that pairs with the RD crank, I havnt put it in my bike yet but im hoping I dont have that problem.
Well, the thread has been around two weeks and it hasn't been flooded with, "Same problem" replies, so I'm inclined to think I got an unusual lemon. So I think if anything, this should give you more confidence. You can take any bike component and find at least one person who had a bad experience among a hundred who had great experience.
The good thing is that this is a $30 lemon that I got six months of use out of, so it's not like I blew a grand on a used lemon frame or spend $200 on bibs that rub me the wrong way.

I've had good luck with mine. I've been using it for about a year for daily commuting, shopping and getting around (don't own a car). I do pretty routine maintenance on my commuter though. It's still in good shape. It's not perfectly smooth, but it's still in pretty good condition. It's on my single speed and I'm in So. Cal. It's been drenched and ridden in pretty good heat, no issues at all.
