I keep my bike in a room that gets direct sunlight this time of year. Is that bad for the carbon frame?

Thanks,
Jake

Mayble you're thinking of lead?
I'm pretty sure it's graphite. That's also lead. That's also carbon. That also explodes.

Never use pencils in the sun.

uh.....I'm no chemist....BUT graphite is NOT lead....it's carbon.......lead is NOT carbon except for pencil lead........

BUT....I used graphite pencil's as solder picks for 20 years (1300 to 1600 degrees F) and they do indeed explode....when you drop the on the floor...... (that is why I switched to tungsten)

carbon WILL burn in the sun.........so try NOT to get it that close.................

My bicycle is made from 100% Pure Awesome, laminated with Pimp Sweat, so I can ride it in the Rain, Storms, Sun, Cold and Heat. As long as I service it regularly I've been informed that I'll get many years of loyal service from it.

So what you're saying is that I've spent thousands of dollars on a bicycle and I can't ride it to the Sun. A Pox on thee. :)

I only ride my bike at night due the degradation caused by sun, and only on new moon nights cause the moon bounces too many UV's as well. Oh, and the temps must be between 68.8 and 69.3 degrees. I do feel like I am taking my life in my own hands if I push the bike much over 12 mph, just in case it sponteously expodes.
duck and cover....tonight is a full moon..........................

Global Warming is from a Build up of Carbon.

The Bike industry, increase in the use of Carbon.

Global Warning - Bike Industry, it's an Oil Company conspiracy man!

My signature. Made from Carbon.
no...no....no.......carbon fiber is SAVING the planet......locking up all the nasty carbon so it can't bond with O2 and destroys us all...(or at least keep us warm....wait a minute...why is this bad again?????)

Nightmare scenario...

Imagine if you washed your cycling gear in the washing machine, put them in the dryer, then went for a ride wearing that same gear on your carbon frame that had been sitting in the sun in your bedroom for a while!!!!

I'm pretty sure you'd die a horrific death before you got your first mile in. Spontaneous human combustion, heart attack, brain annurism, something. OMGWFT!!!!11ty!!!

Maybe that's what's causing all the delays with the 787? The fasteners are just an excuse.. the truth is that the panels, ribs, stiffeners and stringers are EXPLODING!
They only explode when the plane is taken out of the hanger during the day. The planes work fine at night.
