touchy situation...

Hi everyone Im new to the forum and have an issue, I hope I can get some help. I've been biking about 5 years now but i still consider myself a noob because I dont know that much about the sport. All i do is get on the bike and pedal till i cant pedal any more. All i know is there is no greater feeling in the world then a hard, exerting, exhausting ride.

Anyways, I had my first long ride of this season the other day. (by long i mean 46miles) and after the ride it felt like i was pissing fire for the rest of the day. This had happened to me last summer after one ride. Its confusing to me because I am now riding with shorts that have the most padding i've ever used. Then i rode two days later (36mi) and had no problems...

Any insight or past experiences on this situation?

Well, you can forget about sex from now on...

I'm not a doctor, but I play one when guys talk about this problem...
It's probably squishization of the equipment, the nerves and arteries and urethra and whatnot that run Down There, and it's probably temporary, but you don't want to be doing it every day. Adjusting your saddle might help (is the nose tilted up now? Try level or slightly down), and if your handlebars are low, that can tilt you forward and mash the machinery. Even the padding in your shorts could be a cause, if it wads up under your taint and increases the pressure. If you haven't had the problem before and the shorts are new, in fact, I'd suspect that. In my experience, a lot of padding isn't necessarily helpful--it's important that the saddle fit your butt and that it be properly adjusted. There's a ton of stuff on this online, so you should be able to work it out.

what color is your urine? what is your fluid intake like? You are unloading a lot of waste products that concentrate as you exert yourself. Unless you dilute it with water it should burn. One bottle isn't going to cut it for that sort of exertion, at least to me.

Very yellow even though i downed 4 bottles of H2O and a gatorade. It was the hottest day of the year so far so I made sure I was extremely hydrated.

I have been extremely dehydrated before, and I have had my piss look like the color of Pepsi, yet I have never had it feel like fire when pissing.

Maybe its the saddle, or maybe you should make sure you are wrapping up the one eyed snake. :D

Based on my military training, your symptoms are those of the clap.

seriously?

You're considering taking medical advice from a bunch of yahoos on line..?
if its phsyically troubling, see a sports physiologist...(don't clog the medical system with such a problem). they can give you advice on saddle adjustment, equipment, etc...

simply adjust your saddle, lower your saddle, or look into purchasing different saddles...if its a stock saddle on your ride, it may not be what your butt ordered. After only 46 miles the problem shouldn't be happening...find a good bike shop, chat with them about their saddle return policy, and begin trying them out...but I would not continue riding in the same position with the same gear for very long.

I know its not the girls nights out because the fiance' is not allowed to leave the house! =)

No, but in all seriousness tomorrow i'm going in to the bike shop to possibly get some adjustments on my bike and/or some fitting done.

Since i bought the bike there have been some physical changes in my body that may be changing the fit. When i got into biking 5yrs back i was actually an injured bodybuilder. So needles to say i was much bigger and had zero flexibility. I got hooked on biking and have stayed with it ever since...So now i'm down about 30pounds from when i first got it and my flexibility, although not amazing, is much better.

Not pepsi! :yikes:

But I have had that happen, to very dark colored. Even 4 bottles might not be enough on a hot humid day, especially if you start off a bit low like from a hot ride the day before. When I do get low on fluids it can start the fire. 2 times in a couple years, probably not the saddle. My guess would be dehydration.

I am not a medical doctor, btw.
