I just bought a used bike that has Mavic Open Pros with Dura Ace Hubs.

My question is which wheels are better the Open Pros or Forte Titans from performance. I had just bought the titans at the beginning of the summer and am trying to figure out which wheelset is better. I usually do the 40/50 mile weekend rides.

Thanks

If you're over 170 pounds, you'll probably start breaking spokes on the Titans pretty soon. After the third spoke broke, I returned them to Performance for a OP/ Ultegra wheel.

I'm currently using a Titan rear wheel since my other wheel had some rim cracks.

The Titan wheel was $80. It has been working so far so I'm not complaining. I don't intend to use it for too long though.

The Titans look suspiciously similar to Neuvation M28s. I would guess the Neuvations are better assembled ?

I wouldn't be surprised if they were made in the same factory but with different spec hubs -- or maybe not. The Neuvation fronts are actually a little cheaper.

Interesting that both Performance and Neuvation are out-of-stock on their respective Titan/M28 Aero3 rear wheels.

I've owned a pair of Titans and now a pair of Neuvations. These wheels are every much similar from my experience, The similarities end at the rim. The spokes and hubs are different on the Neuvations. Out of stock? No surprise. Both look great and spin well plus they cost very little. However, the Titans I had were constantly giving me problems. I axed them for my Mavics. the neuvations have been really impressive over the last 7600 miles. I only had to true them twice and the second time, the mechanic that trued it said that it was so little, he's surprised I noticed. I'm 215 lbs so the Neuvations really surprised me. Anyway, to answer the OP's question, there is no comparison. The Open Pros are far superior wheelset than the Forte Titans.

I have a set of Op/Ultegras and a set of the forte titans - the titans are only used on my trainer or rollers as that's all I trust them for. The OPs are my year round road bike training wheels and have worked great for thousands of miles.
