"New" as in brand new from a bike store? If so, no, that's wrong. Bikes shouldn't get all scuffed up during delivery from the factory.

If "new" means "new-to-you" from some other person then I would ignore it.

Hey, thanks for the comments. The guy at the bike shop says it’s supposed to be like that as that section of the frame is exposed ‘naked’ carbon.

I Googled this and yeah this so called naked carbon does look pretty ugly. I’ve never had a carbon bike before so I wasn’t aware that it looks like this. Im just glad it’s only a small part of the frame.

Have you tried GooGone?

I find that hard to believe. The three parallel lines around "Emonda" sure like like scratches. The naked carbon things that I've seen have more of a uniform "flaky" appearance to them. Either way, it's not structural so I wouldn't be worried about riding it.

send that picture to Trek directly and ask them how to proceed.. tell them you have gone to your trek dealer and find the answer.. odd.. see what they say about it.. if they say the same at the LBS.. ok.. if they dont.. and are willing to do something about it.. good.. but i wouldnt hold my breath to get a free mint out of it.. it does appear a cosmetic blemish to me.. i also find it hard to believe the naked carbon thingy..

I did want to email Trek but I can’t find an email address for them anywhere. The only one I found is no longer monitored. It’s impossible to contact big companies these days unfortunately.

Thanks. Yeah I saw that. I’m in an East Asian time zone. I’ll try online chat at some point.
