OK, here's the next question. I have the opportunity to meet Fabian Cancellara at an upcoming promotional appearance. This is the jersey I'm thinking about asking him to autograph. I'm thinking on the back, smack dab in the middle of the Swiss cross. What do you all think?

I think that most jersey autographs at the Tour are done on the front. Especially if you will be framing it later. And you should frame it.

In the front white cross, just to one side of the zipper.

EDIT: Mr. C will have signed a billion of these Swiss Champion jerseys in his lifetime. I bet that he has a spot on the jersey where he always signs. And it will look good there.

Wen I met Jen's I opted for a picture. It's not even framed. It's pinned on the wall in my garage where my trainer is set up is. So when I'm doing maxed out intervals Jen's can tell my legs to shut up.

They are all likely to be.... they sign a gazillion things. My signature deteriorated to that when I was a public housing inspector because I signed my name so many times a day. Jen's sig is like that. It's still their sig if that interests you, if it doesn't than who cares, def don't mess up a nice piece of kit. Not sure what you expected in terms of penmanship from elite autograph signing machine athletes?

I don't understand what all the flame is about.

Have him sign where ever he wants, have him sign whatever jersey you want. It's going to be your collectors piece. $200, $30 or $400, who cares? You can't put a price on things that are priceless to you, yes? Don't forget you'll drop a pretty penny on the glass frame, go for UV coated glass to prevent fade.

I went to the Giro last year, I had a much sought after Col d'Agnello cap and a folded up gAzetta del sport which fell out during a bottle/newspaper hand off on the top of the climb... impressive stuff. My friend had an Astana feed bag which he got from soigneur (whom he helped pack Vincenzos feed). I had the best intentions of marrying the two in a nice frame but now the cap is in my office desk and the newspaper is well... I don't know where exactly.

Point is, don't overthink it, spend the money today else tomorrow it won't seem like such a great idea. Black sharpie....sign wherever. Frame. Hang in garage or bike corner. Done.

Ha!

and yes, of course he'd be able to tell its counterfeit, so will every other person who lays eyes on your framed memorabilia. I wouldn't use a fake, heck, you can't even sell it downstream later to recoup costs as someone will flag it as a fake.

Congrats, newbie, you just dug up a dead thread from 3 years ago!!!!!

You know, even though this thread died a merciful death back in 2017, I'm surprised not a single person suggested using......wait for it......a FABRIC MARKER! Go to any fabric store, or just ask your mom where to get one.

@jillyjelly As you can see, this is a really friendly place. No Time Toulouse just likes to give the newbies their initiation and see if they're still sane after his internet tough guy act. He really loves us all here.
