Any experience with tires that work well on wet roads? I was looking at the Continental GP4000, but started reading some comments that these tires don't have good traction on wet roads. I've also read that Vittoria Open Corsa Evos are good in the wet, but I'm a bit leery of durability. How are the new Michelin Pro Race 4s?

gp4000 is my favorite rain tire -- avoid anything dual compound if you plan to do extensive riding in the rain -- the hard center rubber slides around especially when braking

I am more confident on my GP4000S in the rain than anything else, however on my commuter bike (100+ miles/week) I use 25mm Ultra Gatorskins at a lower PSI in the wet and they're not too bad. The GP4Seasons are apparently grippier than the Gatorskins, though not quite as grippy as the GP4000S. However they have stronger sidewalls and will last a bit longer.

Personally I prefer the extra grip (and just put up with the "increased chance" of a puncture) and I ride my GP4000S on my road bike.

I do a great deal of very curvy, wet, steep descents here in Taiwan. I go stupid-fast. I've run the GP4000s for the last 4 years and have never once felt it slip on the road - paint lines, metal grates, man-hole covers, leaves - sure it will slip, but never on the road. So I'm surprised to hear the OP refer to comments about it being a poor choice for wet riding. I did throw on some Michelin Pro Optimums the other day. Michelin calls them 25, but they are more like 27. 90psi in the back, 80 in the front (I weigh 150lb.) They were definitely confidence inspiring (and very comfy!) on my wet/fast descent yesterday.
