hey there im looking to build an all matte black carbon bike...ive got most of my parts in order but the only issue is my group set its a low mileage campagnolo centaur set that i want to use. the only issue is its the standard silver color. is there any way to strip the parts down and paint or "tint" them with out destroying there natural beauty? if so what products/ supply's will i need? thanks!!

Personally I think it would look like doodoo if you did that to such a nice group.
I dislike the black look of the current bike groups myself. I think the polished silver is sweet, and shows off the detail and workmanship of the group. I am using the older Record 10 spd group on my bike because it looks so much better.

There is no creativity in building a ghetto all-black bike nowadays. It's been played out years ago. Just my opinion of course. You can build whatever you feel like.

Painting is a bad idea. It would be almost impossible to do a really good job. I'm with the other posters who suggest selling your current group and buying a black version.

You can do what a lot of car forum geeks do (to wheels, badges etc) and spray first with several light coats of Plasti-Dip, then spray with the paint color of your choice. That way if you hate it, you can peel it off and forget it evar happened.

I've painted components in the past. You have to disassemble each component and prep it just like you would for painting any metal piece. It's a lot of work and some of the components are very difficult to disassemble. You're better off buying a black gruppo. You'll be much happier in the long run. Good luck!
