Possibly but keep in mind that despite a bike having 12x100 and 12x142 thru axles, but as I found out, there are several standards as Rock Shox, Scott, and Shimano have different thread pitch which prevents interchangeability. Also, I found that 12x142 road thru-axles from Carbon-Ti and Extralite were nearly 1-cm longer front and rear than my bikes spacing.

 

Nope. The axle has a captive replaceable nut and uses an enclosed can like Shimano quick release.

 

12mm through-axles come in three different thread pitches. Shimano (also called E-thru) is 1.5mm. Maxle is different.
