White Industry LTA hubs?

So in my quest to answer the unanswerable, I have talked to yet another wheelbuilder and gotten yet another opinion. This time, I am unable to find much chatter regarding the hub.

Mike Garcia from Odds and Endos has recommended a build up of a White Industries LTA set with Velocity Fusion rims, or CXP33 rims if I insist(He has a philosophical objection to Mavic). I have no experince with WI hubs, and they aren't rated here. I searched the boards, and there is little noise on them.

At this point I have been given three different suggestions, each with a CXP 33(or Velocity equivalent) rim. The prices for all three are within $50 of one another. The three hubs in questions are:

- DT Swiss Onyx(Joe Young Recommendation)
- Dura Ace(John Kovachi Recommendation)
- White industries LTA(Odds and Endos reccomendation)

Anyone have any experience withe these hubs? Or is it, as I am beginning to suspect, simply a matter of preference withint a certain price range? Lord, I had an easier time hopping for a mattress...

I've got a set of used LEW wheels

with the White Industries Hubs. The wheels and hubs are about 4 years old and the hubs are still flawless and very very smooth and have no play in them. I am happy with the wheels and the hubs. I'm not sure how many miles are on the hubs.

Great Hubs! I have 2, actually 3 sets of wheels with WI hubs. Dave Thomas of Speedream built me a set with LTA and Velocity Aerohead rims. I've got who knows how many K miles on them, with no problems. I also have a set of Reynolds Stratus Carbon wheels, and Rolf Prima Vigor tandem wheels that also use WI hubs.

WI customer service is great.

If you ever decide to switch between Shimano/Campy, all you have to do is swap the free-hub, and re-dish the wheel. Piece of cake.

I guess with companies like Reynolds, and Rolf using them, they're probably a pretty safe bet. Go for it. IMO though, I'd go with the Velocity's over the crappy Mavics.
