R B R Vest of course

I would greatly appreciate some recommendations for a good wind vest for the upcoming fall/winter riding...

Windproof front, mesh back, packs small, zipper from bottom and top, visiblity. Need to be able to fold it up small and stuff in a jersey pocket as termperature changes so I prefer a vest with no pockets since they just add bulk.. When thinking visibility be aware of spring (green), fall (orange/yellow) and winter (white) colors and think of the contrast you may want.

The vest you referenced is overpriced and the wrong color (black).

Another option in warmer temps is to just stuff a piece of a tyvek mailing envelope inside the chest of your jersey.

 

Thanks for the recommendation. If I were to get that Giordana I would definitely get it in green. I hadn't looked at velowear, but it looks nice. I saw they sell one in green as well. I was looking around a little more and came across this Castelli http://www.realcyclist.com/castelli-leggero-vest-mens. I think I will probably go with it.

Why not just get the Assos vest to match the jacket? Oh wait, it's expensive but it's one of the best vest I ever own. It doesn't flop around in the wind. It's form fitting but doesn't restraint movements on the shoulders. The material they put on the front definitely blocks the wind.

The assos vest is a tough call given the cost, but if you find one on sale it's well worth it. I got mine this spring for 40% off from last year's inventory.

Was looking at this one myself but couldn't tell if it has double zippers. Based on my experience w/ the jacket I wound up getting being able to unzip from the waist and/or neck seems like a feature that would be really nice from a temperature control perspective.

 

If you want to kill two birds with one stone the Gore jacket where the sleeves zip off to become a vest is really good IMO.

It may be a little heavy/warm for what you want though. It's not the type of thing you could comfortably put into a pocket or wear much above, oh I don't know, 45 f or so.

 

I actually looked at that very GORE jacket. I did not like it however because it was a little more baggy than I would like it to be.

 

I wear a Cannondale Morphis- windproof vest/jacket with sleeves that attach via magnets. It does the trick for me in SE MI. I like mine (white) so much that I may get a 2nd. Probikekit.com has a few on sale/clearance.
